Dividend

Cash a company pays to the people who own its stock, usually out of its profits. Many U.S. companies pay one every three months, as a set amount for each share. A company can raise, cut, or stop its dividend at any time. Paper trades here do not receive dividends, but backtests count them as reinvested.

Example:

You own 100 shares and the dividend is $0.50 a share, so you get $50.
